sleepover

Last week we had Parker and Grace over for a cousin sleepover!
I think the look on Oliver’s face says it all.

This time of year, our backyard is covered in pecans from our huge pecan tree. Picking them up is not fun work so I offered Parker and Grace a penny for every pecan they gathered. They actually thought it was fun, like an easter egg hunt. The last thing Parker did before going to bed was gather pecans and the first thing he wanted to do in the morning was gather pecans, all in hopes of collecting enough to buy some little green army men.
Seven-hundred pecans later, I realized my piggy bank coins weren't going to cut it and pulled out the wallet to pay them with bills. We headed to the dollar store where Parker got a couple packages of army men and Grace got some stickers and playdough. Besides using them for cheap labor, we made cookies, played games, and watched movies…basically we just had a lot of fun!

Wonder if it would work with snail pick up...I will have to give it a try when you get here. They are worth at least 10 cents a pick for live ones and a nickel for the dead ones...
