Christmas this year was great fun. Here is a little rundown of what we have been up too.
Beware this is a long post.
We exhausted Oliver with all the Christmas activities and he mostly just wanted to catch a nap whenever he could. One of his favorite spots is on his dad's lap.
Speaking of dads, being on top of all the latest trends, my dad got all the ladies in the family the must have Christmas gift of the season.
Can you believe only one of us is six months pregnant?
Oliver's cousins, Parker and Grace, got a cool new jeep for Christmas. Parker loves driving people around and when Grace got sick of being driven around, Oliver stepped in.
Oliver actually really enjoyed riding around in the jeep and would cry when we would make Parker stop to get a picture.
Seeing Parker drive Oliver around made Grace jealous and she wanted to drive Oliver around. I let her have a try but quickly realized she had not clue how to drive the jeep. Luckily no injuries occured during her short driving excursion.
Following all this Christmas excitement, the Nielsen family headed up north to check out the snow and do some sledding.
Curtis did most of the sledding while Oliver and I sat and watched (Oliver actually fell asleep).
After watching everyone go down a couple times, I decided I better do a run or two. Sam had been attempting to catch a jump for a couple runs and kept missing it. Now, I pride myself on being level headed but on December 29th, I lost all sense of good judgement and as I was climbing the hill for my first run I decided "to go big or go home". Well I went big, and now I am home, and I hurt. I went for the jump on my first trip down, hit it going sideways, landed hard on my back, and got the wind knocked out of me completely. I could feel the pain immediately and told myself to get up before I made a scene. Unfortunately I only made it up to my knees before I went back down to the ground in pain and not able to breathe. At this point strangers started to congregate around me as I tried to regain my breath and composure. Curtis jokes that everyone took a knee, and Sam teases that he had to give the signal to the other sledders that it was okay to continue sledding. However, days later I am still in pain and wondering what the heck was I thinking?

Love the pictures, don't love that you got hurt. Good thing you have that fabulous Snuggie to cuddle up in. My best friend just bought me one, and it is AMAZING.
Now that is a classic Nielsen story. Way to live on the edge. Love the snuggies on everyone and Oliver looked so cute crying in the jeep when it would stop.
I love the picture of Curtis and Oliver right next to the tree! It was so fun seeing you guys. Now you need to take a trip up here! (Once you have fully recovered of course) And bring your Snuggie...it is freezing!
just to clarify...
1. there's a reason i had been "accidentally" missing the jump
2. had i not signaled to the other sledders that it was "okay" the flagstaff 911 dispatch would have been jammed
3. Mom got the blanket
Your pics are soooo cute Vanessa! I am sooo glad you guys have a blog now! :) I hope you are feeling better you crazy girl!!!
